Intentional Redesign:
Respecting Site and History

M &JG House sits at the top of a rolling meadow bordered by birch trees and evergreens. Our renovation reused the foundation of an earlier house, layering in additional spaces vertically to minimize impact on the site. Extra-high ceilings and a window wall spanning the rear of the home bring ample sunlight into the primary living spaces.

Material Dialogue:
Color, Texture, Context

The bedroom and office wing are clad in pale yellow shingles, while the public spaces, art studio and garage have a skin of red batten board. This marriage of high-quality materials and intentional colors—along with the choice of standing-seam metal roofing—resulted in a modern, Scandinavian-inspired farmhouse that fits beautifully into its rural setting.
